On the evening of August 23, the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of New York (TCCNY) and Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce of New York (TJCCNY) held the Overseas Compatriot and Taiwanese Entrepreneur Industry-Academia Cooperation and Finance and Real Estate Explanatory Meeting. As it was held on an ordinary evening, as well as those attending physically quite a few overseas compatriots attended remotely.
Director Chen Yong-feng of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) Culture Center in New York was invited to introduce the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) "Overseas compatriot entrepreneurs with industry-academia cooperative service programs" and "overseas compatriot and Taiwanese entrepreneur industry-academia service handbooks" compiled by universities in Taiwan, hoping that overseas compatriot and Taiwanese entrepreneurs of different generations can combine their particular expertise with the resources of Taiwan’s industry, academic and R&D units, linking domestic and innovative R&D results with overseas compatriots and Taiwanese entrepreneurs to serve as the foundation for increasing their competitiveness and industry upgrading. At the same time, Chen also invited everyone to attend the Training Program for Overseas Chambers of Commerce Official and Young Entrepreneurs to be held in Mid-October in Taiwan.
This event also had lectures on finance and real estate, two subjects that young people are interested in; the speakers CEO of Core Continental Construction Joey Chiang, Vice President of Goldman Sachs New York Head Office Vincent Lin and Manager of the Business Development Division of First Bank of New York Bing Chen talked about the secrets of real estate investment, and analyzed the current financial markets and the effect of a strong dollar on the world, giving tips on investment and money management to everyone in an easy to understand way and stressing the importance of timing; of course, risk management was not ignored, hoping that the young people can pursue a steady investment strategy in future.
