With the intention of allowing overseas compatriot entrepreneurs discuss planning of business strategy for the post-Covid era, from November 4 to December 4, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) held the 2020 OCAC Online Courses on Future Technology and Industrial Development: 20 Compulsory Courses for Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs on Post-Pandemic Economics with the theme of "New Viewpoints, New Trends, New Vision". Over 100 chambers of commerce heads and important officials and chairmen, general managers and CEOs from overseas compatriot enterprises in 45 countries and regions completed the courses.
OCAC Minister Tung Chen-yuan stated that he hopes this series of course will guide overseas compatriot business people in how to respond to the challenging changes in the greater environment, adjust their steps and transform and upgrade to allow them to take advantage of the new trends and use the Total Solution mechanism for business opportunity matching etc. He expressed the hope overseas compatriot entrepreneurs can "grasp trends, take aim, position precisely, find the right target and achieve a new business peak".
The five online courses included: Changes in global economy and industry, new look in the pandemic era, digital new technology, key development industries and future technology and development. Lecturers were experts from the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, Taiwan Institute for Economic Research, the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC), Industry, Science & Technology International Strategy Center (ISTI), Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and the Artificial Intelligence for Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Research Center(AIMS) of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Giving a speech in the closing ceremony on December 4, OCAC deputy minister Hsu Chia-ching praised participants for overcoming time difference to complete the courses and affirmed the penetrating viewpoints of the lecturers; she encouraged overseas compatriot entrepreneurs to continue to overcome the pandemic together, grow their business, even take advantage of opportunities and expand operations on the basis of the friendship and platform established by studying together.
The chambers of commerce presidents, chairmen, general managers and CEOs who took part regarded the lectures on planning for the various challenges after the pandemic, responding to the important future digital transformation, development of the ICT industry, new agriculture and lifestyle changes given by lecturers from domestic industry information and intelligence institutes highly; they also thought that they will now be able to formulate more innovative ideas for post-pandemic business strategy and searching for cooperative business opportunities in advance. They said that that will continue to exchange international trend and business information in future or create cross-industry cooperation opportunities.
The OCAC has served and contacted overseas compatriot entrepreneurs for many years. After the outbreak of the pandemic, proactive actions were taken from health care, emergency assistance and business relief to post-pandemic stimulus. In future, the OCAC will continue to assist overseas compatriot entrepreneurs develop their business by grasping trends, adapting in a timely way and making prompt decisions.
