The Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) launches a plan to upgrade and transform its scope of work in the academic research field in 2022, with the aim of advancing its overall research layout in overseas compatriot affairs and maximizing benefits of its limited budget. The plan integrates three types of academic grants, namely the awards for theses and dissertations, the awards for academic works, and the subsidies for academic research projects, into one program called the "Academic Seminars on Overseas Compatriot Affairs". Experts, officials, scholars, and students from all sectors are invited to participate in the Seminars; their research presentations, publications, and engagement in discussions concerning compatriot policies will serve as important references for the OCAC's promotion of future compatriot affairs related work.
