Overseas compatriot businesses all over the world is an extension of ROC's national power. The OCAC endeavors to assist overseas compatriot business organizations with their operation as well as enhance contacts between overseas compatriot businesses and the government. Consequently, overseas compatriot businesses can exert their resources and network to facilitate Taiwan's international trade and invest Taiwan.

The OCAC's overseas compatriot business and trade affairs is corelated with the government's overall economic and trade policies.

Based on the New Southbound Policy and 5 plus 2 Innovative Industries Program, the OCAC has created an exchange platform which integrates Taiwan's industries, government organizations, academic and research institutions with overseas compatriot businesses. It aims to encourage overseas compatriot businesses to investing in start-ups in Taiwan and seeking business opportunities globally. In addition, the OCAC also established the Overseas Credit Fund (Taiwan) to provide credit guarantees to overseas compatriot businesses and assist them obtain financing from financial institutions. The Fund has served as the strongest financial backup for overseas compatriot businesspeople and assist them make a full effort to develop their business.

Promoting Taiwan's excellent cuisine, tourism and medical resources overseas is one of the government's important policies at present. One of the most effective strategies is to use the advantage of the personal network of the overseas community to attract overseas compatriots and international friends to Taiwan to experience its beauty and progress. To encourage overseas compatriots to visit Taiwan for tourism and health examinations, the OCAC issued the "i Compatriot Card" and has been inviting both domestic and overseas businesses to become specially engaged partners and provide card holders with special offers.

Taiwanese food is renowned all over the world. To promote Taiwanese food and introduce outstanding Taiwanese chefs overseas, the OCAC initiated The International Tour of Taiwan Gourmet Cuisine Program on an annual basis. The OCAC sends renowned chefs overseas to present Taiwanese food cooking demonstrations and invites overseas compatriots and mainstream VIPs to join the events. The Taiwanese food extravaganza successfully demonstrates Taiwan's soft power and practice Taiwan's public diplomacy.

Overseas compatriots are also encouraged to come back to Taiwan for National Day celebrations and to travel around Taiwan. It is a great opportunity for them to better understand Taiwan's most recent developments and help boost Taiwan's tourism industry.
