The Department of Business Affairs was established to provide economic and business support to overseas compatriots, encourage overseas compatriot businesses owners to invest in Taiwan, assist in the development of overseas compatriot business associations, nurture overseas talent, and promote interaction between overseas compatriot businesses and industries in Taiwan.

The department promotes industrial exchanges between domestic industries and overseas compatriot businesses, manages training programs for businesses in overseas communities, provides liaison services and assistance in the economic and trade development of overseas communities, offers support to enterprises and organizations established by overseas compatriots, and conducts research on overseas compatriot economics.
