The second session of OCAC Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneur Six Strategic Industries Delegation Provided Additional Matching With Excellent Enterprises

The Overseas Community Affairs Council held the 2020 OCAC Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneur Six Strategic Industries Delegation for a second time on December 3 and 4. The aims were to increase exchange on business opportunities between overseas compatriot entrepreneurs and domestic industry, help build the six core industries, and market the Taiwan brand. 10 excellent Taiwan enterprises were invited to attend a business opportunity matching meeting to explore opportunities for cooperation with the 12 delegation members from eight countries.
The government is strongly promoting the Six Main Strategic Industries to make Taiwan a global economic power; they are the information and digital technology, cybersecurity, medical technology and precision health, green and renewable energy, national defense and strategic industries, and strategic stockpile industries.
The OCAC held the first 2020 Delegation in September. As it was well received by overseas compatriot entrepreneurs, a decision was made to hold the second on December 3 and 4.
OCAC Minister Tung Chen-yuan said that Taiwan's recent performance has been affirmed internationally. Its economic performance has been outstanding, growing quickly while most economies in the world are in recession; the forecast annual growth rate is 2.54% for this year and 3.83% for next year. Amidst this unique strategic advantage, the OCAC also hopes to allow overseas compatriot entrepreneurs worldwide to grasp opportunities and be matched with partners to create business opportunities.
Tung pointed out that many of Taiwan's industries have a global advantage, for example, Taiwan accounts for more than 50% of the world's ICT products, the semi-conductor industry is regarded as a "sacred mountain that protects the country" and the intellectual economy industry that is an extension of it is developing rapidly and has unlimited future development opportunities. The OCAC also issues the Intellectual Economy E-Bulletin to share information about Taiwan's intellectual industry with overseas compatriots.
Tung Chen-yuan also said that as Taiwan has performed outstandingly in dealing with COVID-19, there is now a high level of trust in Taiwan internationally and more importance is being attached to the Taiwan brand. The biomedical technology industry is one of Taiwan's six main strategic industries. As well as arranging visits to related institutions for participants, a business opportunity matching meeting was also held to help overseas compatriot entrepreneurs link with excellent Taiwan enterprises, to create a win-win-win-win situation for overseas compatriot entrepreneurs, Taiwan enterprises, Taiwan's economy and the place of residence of overseas compatriots.
Delegation leader Lin Wen-chang said that the two-day itinerary was packed and the participants from five continents all hoped that they could stay for longer and said they had gained a lot; exchange in the business opportunity matching meeting was also lively, he said. He suggested that participants actively follow up any opportunities for business cooperation with interested Taiwan enterprises after returning home.
The discussion meetings were held at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, TAITRA and the Institute for Information Industry, visits were also arranged to the Industrial Technology Research Institute, Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park Incubation Center, Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Technology and Development Center, and Apex Medical Corp. A business opportunity matching meeting with 10  excellent Taiwan enterprises in biotech and eHealth was also held. 
Tung Chen-yuan said the OCAC hopes to help overseas compatriot entrepreneurs link with superior enterprises in Taiwan to create a win-win-win-win situation for overseas compatriot enterprises, Taiwanese enterprises, Taiwan's economy and the places of residence of overseas compatriots.

The second session invited 10 excellent Taiwan enterprises to attend a business opportunity matching meeting at which exchange was lively.
