In a response to the growing overseas affairs in Vietnam, the O.C.A.C. Hanoi was established in July 2017. Thus, the center is able to enhance the communication with overseas compatriots in Northern Vietnam and Laos.
For many years, Taiwan is one of the largest economic partners of Vietnam in trade and investment. In 2018, Taiwan was ranked 4th country making the investment in Vietnam, and the 5th largest trade partner of Vietnam. As of 2018, Taiwan was the largest importer of the labor of Vietnam . Two countries have developed cooperation in fields of banking-finance, science, technology, health, and education.
Being the primary overseas Taiwanese group in Vietnam, the Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam has established over 14 branches across the nation. Presently, there are a total of 5 branches in the northern provinces, including Hanoi, Hia Phong, Thai Binh, Bac Ninh and Ha Tinh. The council serves as a platform to enhance the communication between the members, provide opportunities for business and assist foreign investors in Vietnam.
The O.C.A.C. Hanoi primarily provides services such as the communication of overseas Taiwanese groups, the promotion of culture and education of Taiwan, enhancement of overseas Taiwanese trading service and repatriation of oversea Taiwanese students for education.
