Vietnam is located on east side of the Indochina Peninsula. The country is bound by Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan of China to north, Lao and Cambodia to the west, and South China Sea to the east and occupies about 333689 sq.km with a S-shaped. According to United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs released 《 World Population Prospects, the 2015 Revision》statistics data about Vietnam population in 2015 at 93,448,000. Chinese ethnic population is accounted for 13.1% equivalent nearly 1,055,962 of which is majority ethnic communities ( total 54 ethnic communities). Chinese Vietnamese spread all over the nation among density of 80% population to be equal over 500,000 live in south zone as well as the most concentrated area HCMC (formerly Saigon) .The Guangdong group is the majority overseas compatriot in Vietnam, followed by Teochew, Hokkien and Hakka.
Since 1986 Vietnam’s reform and opening policy, Taiwanese businessmen with their family continually invest and live in Vietnam. Total numbers around 66,000. Most of them dwell in HCMC and surrounding provinces of Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Lam Dong followed by HaNoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang and other places. After that,Taiwan External Trade Development Council set up a business office in Hanoi and HCMC in 1991. In September 1992, Taiwan and Vietnam officially were open to navigation. In November of the same year, our government were respectfully established TECO in Hanoi and in HCMC office to serve Taiwanese businessmen and overseas compatriot. The latter's office served area from Da Nang to the south territory.
Nowadays, overseas compatriot in Vietnam can engage all kinds of operations artistic groups and sport clubs are also unfold the move. After Vietnam’s government adjusted to the policy of Chinese Vietnamese in Vietnam, their relatives abroad are starting to come back for visiting and traveling.
With Vietnam's government to open up Mandarin education, each city or township has been established overseas compatriot schools or centers one after another. The centers mainly gather up in HCMC over 30 locations, and nearly by provinces such as Dong Nai with 16, Lam Dang with 3, others with 11, total around 60. There are approximately 300 Mandarin teachers in HCMC.
Bilateral relationships between Taiwan and Vietnam can be defined as 1987 Taiwan industries gradually sought the business opportunities crowding into Vietnam. In the initial stage, most of the productions focused on Processing, Furniture and Handcraft manufacturing. Afterward, Textile and Garment, Footwear, Food Processing, Auto Parts and Accessories, Plastic, Land Development(office buildings, Export Processing Zone) Agricultural and Aquaculture and so on.
Taiwan businessmen in Vietnam engage broad range in the activities. Due to the long and narrow stripe terrain about 2000 kilos distance from north to south of nation-wide, Taiwan Chamber of Commerce spreading in everywhere formed CCTVN based on region and divied into 14 branches including the north of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Taiping and Ha Tinh 5 branches, the central parts of Danang and Lam Dong 2 branches, the south of HCMC, Dong Nai, Bihn Duong, KCX Tan Thuan (Export Zone),Xining, Long An and Ba Ria-Vung Tau and other seven branches.
Since Taiwan-Vietnam established the interaction offices, so far the two sides have signed "Agreement on protection investments","Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income", "Agreement on Agriculture and Fisheries Cooperation","Taiwan-Vietnam Fiscal Cooperation and Exchanges Memorandum", "Agreement on Customs Administrative Mutual Assistance" nearly 40 cooperation agreements. In fact, the actual performance of the trade and investment reflected largely growth in the bilateral investment and trade. In terms of investment, put in $9.76 billion in Vietnam in 1992 , $306.93 billion accumulated at the end of 2015, an increase of 31.35 times. If coupled with indirect investment via a third country, Taiwan is the first and big foreign investment country. In trade, the bilateral trade amount from 400 million in 1992 to 13.07 billion in 2005 growth nearly 32.7 times, Vietnam's fifth largest trading partner.
Marriage scenario: Because of similar culture and related living habits, so there are about 90,000 Vietnamese women married to be Taiwanese wives. Thus, the people come and go quiet intimating.
