The Philippines is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia located in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of about 7,641 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila.
There are more than 100 years of history of Overseas Compatriot education in the Philippines. Overseas Community Affairs Council specially invited experts and scholars to visit the Philippines and consulted the local school, and compiled a new version for the Overseas Compatriot schools. These textbooks are given for free to more than 60 schools. Overseas Community Affairs Council is continuing in enhancing textbooks to further meet the needs of the Overseas Community language teaching in the Philippines.
Filipino overseas compatriot in the early days engaged in many small capital businesses like grocery stores. Since the introduction of department stores in the 1960s, the business model has changed dramatically. As the overseas compatriots are good at doing business, they have been extended to all walks of life. Including not only traditional manufacturing but department stores, supermarkets, construction and finance Banks, tobacco and alcohol business, air shipping, 3C information, catering services, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and other large-scale economic undertakings are also their areas of employment, and forming a strong economic power in the Philippines.
