South Africa is the southernmost country in Africa. It is bounded to the north by the neighboring countries of Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbawe, and to the east and northeast by Mozambique and Eswatini (Swaziland), and it surrounds the enclaved country of Lesotho. South Africa is the largest country in Southern Africa by land area and, with over 52 million people, is the world’s 24th most populous nation. Since 1994, South Africa is divided into 9 provinces at 1.22million km2.
According to the population census statistics of South Africa’s Central Statistics Office, published in 2018, As of 2018, about 142,000 of South Africa 's 52 million residents are Asian ethnic immigrants, which make up 2.5% of the country’s population, of which about 8000 are from Taiwan, 500,000from China.
The number of registrated overseas compatriot associations is 136. However, only 66 ones of them are actually operated. With 19 branches, the African Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce is the most significant one of overseas compatriot associations in Africa. It is committed to assisting its members to solve commercial problems. Besides, with a sum of 1,000 students approximately, there are 8 overseas compatriot schools in the region.
