Taipei, July 25 (CNA) Taiwan Olympic gymnastic team coach Lin Yu-hsin said he will resign from his current position after returning to Taiwan following the failure on Saturday to reach the quarterfinal of the men's team gymnastics.

"I feel very sorry for you, but what's more important is that I hope everyone will continue training in a respectful, tolerant and friendly manner so gymnastics in Taiwan can move forward," Lin said on a Facebook post.

The men's team finished 10th with a score of 246.263 on Saturday and was eliminated from the competition.

However, gymnasts Lee Chih-kai and Tang Chia-hung both reached the individual all-around event final.

Lee, who has won numerous medals at major international sporting events-- including the Universiade, Asian Games, Asian Gymnastics Championships and World Artistic Gymnastics Championships -- also made it to the final of men's pommel horse.

Lin said he hopes everyone will cheer for Lee during the pommel horse competition scheduled for Aug. 1.
