Indigenous activists who have staged a sit-in protest in Taipei for the entire eight years of Tsai Ing-wen's presidency are finally breaking camp but remain critical of the administrations efforts regarding transitional justice and Indigenous land rights in particular. An opposition lawmaker has accused the government of a lack of transparency with regard to aid for Taiwan and a joint project with the Czech Republic. And a group of opposition lawmakers have delayed a trip to the Taiwan-governed Taiping Island in the South China Sea, citing poor weather. Also:
- The U.S. and the Philippines conduct anti-landing drills on beaches close to Taiwan as part of this year's Balikatan exercises. 
- Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in France on his first visit to Europe in five years.
- Taiwan’s inter-city bus operators are set to raise fares for first time in 17 years.
