Chinese Language Story Time
Chinese Academy of Cleveland has been honored to be invited by the Beachwood public library for monthly Chinese language storytime. The City of Beachwood is well-known for their diversification in the population. The friends of Beachwood library have been very supportive of this special chinese language children story time event. The first story time session occurred in December. Teacher Ying Ru Chang and Ya-Jen Wang had teamed up to host the story time. It went very well with songs and stories.
The second story time was on 1/18/2023. However the teacher was not available and the Principal Grace Lin stepped up to host this event. The early literacy librarian Morgan and Branch manager Mia were very helpful in supporting our team by meeting with us in advance to prepare for the success.
There were about 15 people attending the library story time. It’s pre-school children’s Chinese language storytime. Principal Lin has checked out several traditional characters' story books related to the lunar new year. The story time started with a hello song to greet everyone and to read a story regarding the new year's tradition. Ms. Lin read the story about the lunar new year to prepare for a special family meal, new clothes, firecrackers and lucky red envelopes for kids to wish them luck for the year. The music for two tigers, head, shoulder, knees and toes to teach them the body parts with the music. Ms Lin taught kids how to say thank you and sorry from the story. The ending song of saying goodbye song to greet everyone for a blessing year.
The group was very thrilled by what they have learned from this story time by going home to say thank you and good bye in Chinese. Ms. Lin also wished everyone to enjoy the year of Rabbit.
